In an unbelievable wave of events, the Milwaukee Bucks' decision to sit out of tonight's NBA playoff game has highlighted the continued injustices of Black people with police. Their demand is simple, justice. It is to hold the police officer responsible in the shooting of Jacob Blake on Sunday in Wisconsin and to send a message that enough is enough.
The Milwaukee Bucks' refusal to play game 5 set off a domino effect for other teams to take a knee tonight in a show of solidarity. The Buck's opponent, the Orlando Magic declined the forfeit and joined the Bucks' in protests. In addition to the Bucks' and Magic's boycott, the other teams who boycotted tonights playoffs were the Oklahoma Thunder, the Houston Rockets, the Portland Trailblazers, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Mikwaukee Brewers also lead a boycott in Major League Baseball which led to three games being canceled. The WNBA were also set to play three games this evening. They all declined and encourage people to register to vote and to fill out the US Census.
